An A/D converter is a genius little system that is able to convert an analog signal into a digital signal. The digital signal is then transferred to a microprocessor, which then transforms the signal into image data. Here comes the magic — while most digital cameras are able to process 8-bit color data, the Mavic 2 is able to process 10-bit color data, recording up to 1 billion colors.*

How Does HNCS Work?

A brand new color look-up-table (LUT)
In pursuit of photographic perfection, Hasselblad produced a new color look-up-table (LUT) that uses a unique renditioning of colors. The following photo is an example of the new LUT in action.
The Hasselblad L*RGB profile
Hasselblad has improved the algorithms, CMOS sensitivity, and filter characteristics to create the HNCS Hasselblad L*RGB profile. This new profile has a wider color range and is capable of capturing intricate details and stunning contrast levels.
Sacrificing image colors is a pesky situation far too familiar with many photographers. In order to combat this problem, many photographers have to use several profiles for different types of creative work, making this whole process rather cumbersome. With HNCS, Hasselblad has directly tackled this issue and created a universal profile that simplifies this process for the photographer.
Hasselblad implements a “film curve” technique which is used to optimize contrast levels. Combined with the Hasselblad RGB input profile, this technique delivers better contrast between the dark and highlighted regions in an image.
The HNCS eliminates the need to use several profiles to accurately obtain a natural color profile. The techniques utilized in this technology allow you to consistently capture colors, similar to what the human eye can see.
